Wisconsin 4-H State & National Educational Programs Announced! 

Wisconsin 4-H is excited to announce educational travel opportunities will be resuming in full capacity in 2023! Check out below for information on some of the amazing opportunities! More information will be shared out once available.

NOTE: GLC 4-H Leaders’ Association will be offering scholarships to help offset the cost of participating in the experiences listed below. Scholarship application, information, and due dates will be posted soon!

Space Camp, Huntsville, AL
Space Camp is just what you think it is – it’s a camp experience where you learn and experience a ton of different aspects about life as an astronaut, working at NASA, and exploring places beyond Earth! Wisconsin 4-H Space Camp participants experience the Pathfinder Program- a 3 day experience where youth participate in a variety of simulated space activities!

  • Who: 6th-8th grade (max age 15 at time of program)
  • Dates: April 20-24, 2023
  • Cost: ~$900 (including travel)
    • Payment due: March 15, 2023

Pathways Conference, Madison
The Pathways Conference is a new educational experience that will take place on the UW-Madison Campus

  • Who: 7th-10th grade (at time of registration)
  • Dates: June 19-22, 2023
  • Cost: ~$400 (including travel)
    • Payment due: June 1, 2023
  • Application through 4HOnline: April 2 – 15, 2023
    • May attend more than once
    • Seminars are assigned first come, first served

American Spirit East
Experience history & heritage by immersing in a 10-day bus journey to the East Coast — Youth-led content throughout the experience — Increase knowledge of American history while experiencing where it occurred — Dynamic exposure to diverse cultural experiences and perspectives of the foundation of our nation.

  • Who: 8th-10th grade (at time of registration- Youth in 11th grade eligible for 2023 dates based on circumstance of passed missed opportunity)
  • Dates: June 2023
  • Cost: ~$1,600 (including travel and meals)
    • Payment due: January 15, 2023
  • Application through 4HOnline: October 15 – November 30

Citizenship Washington Focus (CWF), Washington D.C.
Citizenship Washington Focus, or CWF for short, is the premier week long 4-H citizenship and leadership experience. CWF brings 4-H delegations from all over the country to stay in Washington D.C., our Nation’s Capital! Participants learn about the roles of Senators and Representatives in the United States’ government and how these parts work together to form an effective Congress. Additionally, youth get to see and experience government in action by meeting with their State’s members of Congress and watching a House of Representatives meeting. Delegates also participate in various educational workshops such as: Citizenship Toolbox, congressional issues, bill writing, action planning, and touring the city.

National 4-H Conference, Washington D.C.
National 4-H Conference annually brings 4-H youth and adults from around the nation to work towards strengthening and expanding the 4-H Youth Development program at the local, state, and national levels. National 4-H Conference is the U.S. Secretary of Agriculture’s premier youth development opportunity to engage youth in developing recommendations for the 4-H Youth Development Program. The National 4-H Headquarters is charged with sharing the recommendations that emerge from the conference with the Secretary of Agriculture, National Extension Program Leaders, and others who determine 4-H programs. At the same time, the conference is a rich and meaningful experience for the youth and adult participants.

  • Who: 10th-12th grade (minimum age of 15, max age of 18 as of January 1, 2023)
  • Dates: April 14-19, 2023
  • Cost: ~ $1,300 (including travel)
    • Payment due: March 15, 2023
  • Applications are distributed online and due to WI 4-H Office by January 15, 2023
    • State 4-H committee selects 8-10 delegates from applications. May attend one time.

National 4-H Congress, Atlanta, GA
National 4-H Congress is a five-day premiere nation-wide event for 4-Hers to network with others from around the country, Canada, and Puerto Rico. While at Congress, 4-Hers engage in leadership, citizenship, global awareness, and inclusion. Here are just some of the activities delegates will partake in while at National Congress: educational workshops, exploring the city, state and congress-wide meetings, international events, community service, educational tours, world-renowned speakers, National 4-H Congress Gala.

  • Who: 10th-12th grade (max age 18 as of January 1, 2023)
  • Dates: November 24-28, 2023
  • Cost: ~ $1,350 (including travel)
    • Payment due: November 10, 2023
  • Application through 4HOnline: May 1, 2023 – June 1, 2023
